NEW RATTLE EYE GOBY

Rattling eyes use sound and vibrations to increase the effectiveness of the already deadly drop-shot method.  This is a great option for dirtier than usual water conditions, and for specifically targeting the curious nature of smallmouth bass.

Great Lakes smallmouths have been documented to be attracted to noise at a significantly higher rate than other gamefish.  Divers report large schools of bass often following the noise of a boat, and charter captains often drag chains on the bottom when drifting to attract bass.  The new rattle eye bait will capitalize on this curiosity and feeding instinct.

The bait will be available in a number of already proven colors of the original Drop Shot Goby, as well as some new hues.

Since 2000, Balog’s parent company, Millennium Promotions, Inc. has been designing and refining products made specifically for Great Lakes fishing. The company originated the SG Dream Tube, as well as the incredibly popular Drop Shot Goby, which has literally revolutionized the Great Lakes smallmouth tackle industry.

The Rattle-Eye Goby will be priced slightly higher than the original Goby.  The bait will be available around April 1, 2006. Contact Poor Boy’s Baits at www.poorboysbait.com for more information.

DVD takes anglers into “Smallmouth Neighborhood”

Underwater footage gives insight to untold bass secrets

HOWELL, Mich. - Bass angler Kim Stricker figured the best way to learn more about his beloved smallmouth bass was to spend time in its underwater world and record it.

The knowledge he gained and startling scenes he recorded are now available in “Smallmouth Neighborhood, Follow the Forage,” the first of a series of DVDs to be produced by Kim Stricker Productions.

The 20-year veteran of Bassmaster and FLW Tour events and his son Danny spent hundreds of hours filming the world beneath the surface of Great Lakes and northern Michigan inland waters. They taped giant smallmouth so close they could touch them, got nose-to-nose with forage minnows and crayfish, and captured fish fighting scenes that will leave viewers amazed.

In one scene, Stricker hooks a smallmouth while his son captures underwater video of a 5-pound largemouth ramming the hooked fish in an attempt to steal the bait. After the smallmouth is released, Stricker casts to it and catches it again - then loses it - only to have the big largemouth engulf the bait.

The 50-minute video shows dozens of bass striking lures and includes how-to tips for fooling smallmouth. The film was professionally produced and set to an upbeat blend of musical tracks. “Smallmouth Neighborhood” is available from www.kimstrickerproductions.com for $19.95 or by calling (248) 417-2685.
